Using the keyword search method, a report was found in the online edition of Bangla Tribune 23rd March, 2021, entitled ” New Coins of Three Designs Coming to the Golden Jubilee of Independence”. The original news was posted on Bangladesh Newspaper, Bangla Tribune, with the title ‘50-taka commemorative notes and silver coin on the golden jubilee of independence’. These commemorative notes and silver coins will be available at the Motijheel office counter of Bangladesh Bank from 26th March, 2022. Later customers will be able to take these notes and coins from other branch offices.
Investigation revealed that the 50-taka coin is not a conventional coin but a commemorative coin. This claim is false and misleading. Pictures of 50-taka coins printed on the occasion of golden jubilee of independence are being shared with fake claims. Circulating such news is to mislead general public.
