Recently, a claim has been circulating on social media platforms in Pakistan, alleging that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Chairman Imran Khan is paying an $8 subscription fee for Twitter Blue in order to receive a verification tick on his profile, and comparing his verified status with that of serving Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Inorder to check the claim we analyzed official twitter handle of PTI’s Chairman Imran Khan @ImranKhanPTI and found that his account is verified by twiiter as notable in government, no twitter blue subscription was found.

Based on subsequent investigations and expert analysis, It has been determined that the claim that Imran Khan is paying for Twitter Blue in order to receive a verification tick on his profile is false. While Imran Khan’s account is verified by Twitter as notable in government, we found no evidence of a Twitter Blue subscription. The claim was made as a result of Imran Khan was ousted as Prime Minister by a vote of no confidence in the National Assembly.
