Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader, Shahbaz Gill, who was arrested on charges of inciting the public against the state institutions has been transferred to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital Islamabad after he reportedly faced respiratory issues.

A video went viral on social media amid torture on PTI key leader Shahbaz Gill claiming that the video regarding good health of Shahbaz Gill is created through deep fake technology by the current ruling party. Videos/Images went viral on social media with hashtag #DeepFake and #BajwaTraitor.

In order to verify the claim, we extracted key frames of the shared video and performed a reverse image search.

Reverse image search found similar videos posted on twitter, along these we found a set of pictures shared by Pakistani journalist Talat Hussain which have similarities with the video claimed as “Deep Fake”.

Another video with similar visuals was shared by Pakistani TV host Shafaat Ali which confirmed that the person in the video is Shahbaz Gill.

Our fact-check confirmed that the video claimed as “Deep Fake” is actual footage of PTI’s Key Leader Dr. Shahbaz Gill. In the video Shahbaz Gill is not wearing glasses and also has a mustache, which he never keeps, all these factors combined made social media users doubt the authenticity of the video. The video was being shared in a false context claiming it to be a deep fake created by the government.
