A meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party’s national executive was held on 4th July 2022 in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana. After this meeting, a video went viral on social media. In the video, people wearing BJP party garb and caps can be seen distributing liquor. While sharing the video, it is claimed that this video is from the national executive meeting held in Hyderabad. 

Eminent lawyer Prashant Bhushan has shared this video from his official Twitter handle. Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Bhushan writes that Modi’s workers have even converted Telangana into Goa.

Fact-check

In order to verify the claim, we performed a reverse image search and a video with similar visuals was found in a tweet published on 20th December 2021. Hence, the video is old and is not related to the recent national executive meeting of BJP in Telangana. 

The video was also found in the InVid database of fakes.

We came across this report by Dainik Bhaskar published in December 2021. The report mentions Congress leaders stating that the incident took place after BJP leader JP Nadda’s rally in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

Our fact-check confirmed that the viral video of BJP workers distributing liquor is not from the national executive meeting in Hyderabad. This video also went viral in December 2021. This means that the video is at least six months old.
